Carillion: comment from ADEPT
In the wake of Carillion, it is clear that there must be good visibility in the partnership between private and public sector. Ensuring that there is accountability and transparency is key to effective collaboration and delivery. ADEPT members know that a robust procurement process is critical - so understanding the overall commercial position, the supply chain and sub contractors is essential if we are to avoid these costly mistakes. ADEPT is keen to see that we work with our contractors, designing out and innovating to avoid these problems in the first place. We recognise that the financial climate is a challenge for many companies, but there has to be a balance between value for money and effective delivery. The lowest price doesn’t always provide the most cost effective solution.
