Science & Technology Select Committee - opportunity to provide evidence

Science and Technology Select Committee Submission - Closing the Skills Gap

Dear All

As you are all aware, one of the key issues facing our sector at the moment is the skills deficit. ADEPT members are telling me that they are not only concerned about the current challenges, but what the situation could be by 2020. With the Government committed to huge infrastructure projects over the next decade, this skills gap will very quickly become an abyss unless industry and Government come together to solve this crisis.

With this in mind, an opportunity has now arisen to submit evidence to the Science and Technology Select Committee (http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/science-and-technology-committee/inquiries/parliament-2015/inquiry3/) by 13 January on ‘Closing the Skills Gap’.

Jasmin is organising the ADEPT submission to the Committee and I would be grateful if you could let her know any measures your organisation has taken to address the skills gap in your area and how successful they have been.

It is so important that we use this opportunity to share some of the brilliant work that is being done to tackle the skills gap and help shape ideas and best practice going forward.

If you do have something to share, please could you provide any information to Jasmin ([email protected]) by Wednesday 21 December 2016.

We are also looking at other ways we can influence this important issue and I will keep you updated via the newsletter on this.

Many thanks

Rupert
