ADEPT President Anthony Payne would like to invite you to enter the annual President's Awards. The President’s Awards are a highlight of our year, allowing us to acknowledge the work of ADEPT members and partners across the country. Entry is open to all ADEPT local and combined authority members.
We are always impressed at the high standard of entries and the effort our members put in to improve delivery of service and outcomes for their communities. Local authority members can enter the awards with projects that demonstrate excellence in the areas of Delivering Clean Growth, Digital Innovation and Technology, and Shaping Places for People, plus the President's Special Recognition Award for outstanding individuals. You can see previous award winners here. See below for the award categories and judges’ criteria.
Categories
This year's categories are:
Category 1: Delivering clean growth (sponsored by Jacobs)
Councils have a major role to play in the growth agenda, both as a business themselves, but also in their role as promoters of economic growth in their areas and in partnership with Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and the business community. This award is intended to highlight where those councils have gone beyond traditional roles to promote Clean Growth, in line with the Government’s ambitions to tackle climate change, deliver Net Zero and address inequalities. This can relate to delivery of services and infrastructure – housing, transport, waste, economic development, planning and growth or how it operates as a business – estate improvements, staff policies, commissioning and procurement, fleet.
Category 2: Digital innovation/technology (sponsored by Ringway)
ADEPT, its partners and central government have a shared ambition to create SMART Places, where digital innovation and innovative approaches are adopted to shape places that are sustainable, resilient, accessible, and promote well-being. Adopting SMART approaches has the potential to be a game changer to the delivery of strategic outcomes and, at the same time improving efficiency and effectiveness whilst reducing costs across the public sector.
Category 3: Shaping places for people (sponsored by Impower)
The wider determinants of health are the social, economic and environmental conditions in which people live – this has never been more apparent. This award celebrates collaboration in the delivery of programmes and services that improve outcomes for people of diverse backgrounds and social groups across the preventative health and social care agendas. Led by place services, projects can include green spaces, leisure, fitness and active travel, strategic planning and healthy (warm) housing. Entries will be judged on the innovation of their submission, the extent of collaboration and a whole systems approach with other services, local authorities, partners and contractors. Also, the extent to which projects have improved the outcomes for residents and communities, and for health and care services.
The ADEPT President’s Special Recognition Award (sponsored by Amey)
The foundation of any organisation is rooted in its people and their service. In this category we invite ADEPT members to nominate a colleague they think stands out from the crowd. This is not necessarily the loudest or most senior person in the team. Sometimes the quietest member of a group makes a real difference by the way they work, the outcomes they deliver and the influence they exert.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Deliver positive change
- Commit to achieving excellent outcomes for all
- Focus on making a difference
- Use their enthusiasm to take the crowd with them
- Are a role model for their peers
- Demonstrate creativity and innovative thinking to find solutions in an increasingly pressured environment
