PACE Programme 2025 Cohort – session one outputs published

The outputs from session one of the PACE Programme's 2025 cohort are now available, including a summary, video and blog.

The first session: 'Translating global trends into local place leadership: opportunities and challenges', explored four critical megatrends reshaping place outcomes: climate volatility, spatial inequality, erosion of trust and demographic and digital shifts. The session summary brings together the key learnings and discussion points from the day. The video provides an overview of the session’s key themes and insights from the expert speakers.

We've also published a blog from Matt O'Neill, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Matt shares his his personal reflections on the session and how place directors can respond to these intersecting global challenges.

The resources provide valuable insights into how place leaders can move from ‘bracing for the future’ to actively leading it, with particular focus on leveraging technology, rebuilding trust and designing systems fit for the next decade and beyond.

About PACE

The place leaders' Pioneering, Action-orientated, Creative and Entrepreneurial (PACE) programme is a joint venture from ADEPT and Amey.

Launched in 2023, the PACE Programme aims to create space for senior place leaders to find strategic solutions to the wicked issues facing the public sector.

Designed exclusively for place directors and senior leadership, two of the fundamental principles behind PACE is to influence the future of place-focused strategies and support place leaders in driving change. The programme objectives are to create a space for thinking, to support places leaders in driving change and to increase cross-sector understanding through debating similar challenges and sharing successes.
