President update 2nd February - latest news from ADEPT
Hello everyone,
As we head into February, there are several important updates to share with you this month, along with some fantastic news about Live Labs 2.
I hosted an excellent ADEPT / Natural England (NE) webinar last month, where NE presented their proposals to implement the Nature Restoration Fund. It was great to see lots of questions and comments in the chat and it’s really positive that NE is listening to local authorities in the development stage. Our new Strategic Plan is shaping up well, as are plans for the Spring Conference (13th May) - booking opens soon.
On the policy front, we recently responded to the government's pothole ratings map. Our response raised questions about the assessment methodology and emphasised that road condition reflects historic funding levels and other factors beyond council performance alone. You can read our full response here.
I'm pleased to share that ADEPT Live Labs 2 has been extended for a further year, with up to £300,000 in funding. Year 4 will focus on sharing best practice and ensuring the insights and innovations are communicated across the sector to accelerate adoption of new solutions. This is fantastic news and reflects the value and impact this work is delivering – read our statement here.
I'm also pleased to announce that we're welcoming entries for the annual ADEPT President's Awards. These awards are a wonderful platform to highlight the exceptional work happening by our members and partners. I know many of you are delivering truly outstanding projects and initiatives that may seem routine in your day-to-day work, but which demonstrate real innovation and impact - find out more.
