10th October 2019
All the previous past presidents warned me that the time would fly by and they were right. It is October already and our amazing Autumn Conference is rapidly approaching, so here comes the inevitable shameless plug!
This year you can enjoy speed networking with Live Labs, and a Question Time debate focused on funding local places in a post Brexit world. Alongside our exciting programme of speakers, there is the usual in depth focus on some of the key issues facing all of us working across place. Please do not forget to get yourself booked in, as each year the event has got more and more popular.
I recently attended our latest Corporate Partners seminar.
With 5G on the horizon and the Government promising big things, digital connectivity is a huge challenge for our sector, so it was only fitting that this was the subject of our second session.
Featuring inspiring speakers drawn from industry, corporate partners, and Whitehall, discussions ranged across a whole host of topics. From the critical importance of digital infrastructure in creating thriving places, we moved into areas we might not have otherwise considered at this early stage - awareness raising of the potential for new technologies and communicating and engaging with our communities.
Corporate Partner seminars are where we consider the big issues affecting our commercial partners as well as local authorities. These events are a really important part of ensuring all our members benefit from being part of ADEPT, as well as being a great opportunity to share ideas. They help to develop ADEPT’s thinking and drive our policy development as we work with government to make the case for investment in place based services.
This is my first blog as President of ADEPT, so any feedback, which Hannah is happy to receive (I think!) is greatly appreciated: [email protected]
