Lunch and Learn with Core Highways
Traffic Impact Modelling for Roadworks and Dynamic Diversion Routing
This Lunch & Learn Session examines how traffic Impact Modelling is being used to optimise roadworks programmes and traffic management layouts to minimise disruption caused by road improvement schemes. Traffic modelling enables promoters of roadworks to make fact-based decisions about traffic management implementation and understand the impact on the road network that different traffic management options will have. This allows selection of the most appropriate traffic management method to enable work to be completed safely and efficiently while minimising disruption as a result. As more highway authorities seek to reduce congestion and disruption caused by roadworks on their networks, modelling of roadworks will have greater future significance. Roadside technology can also play a critical part in managing and mitigating disruption. The session will also look at how application of different technologies can mitigate delays and give road users early warning of potential network disruption enabling them to plan ahead and have greater journey time reliability.
